• What is hide a hose

  A hide-a-hose is a retractable hose system that uses the vacuum created by your aertec built in vacuum system to retract the hose into the wall. as a rule the hose is generally longer and less points are required than conventional system

• What advantages does a central vacuum system offer

  With a central vacuum system you will be able to clean your home much easier than before. With up to 5 times more suction than a conventional vacuum cleaner and only a lightweight hose to carry around your house, cleaning will be quieter, quicker, better and less of a chore.

• How does a central vacuum system work

  Your central vacuum power unit is located in your utility or garage. A 50mm pvc central vacuum pipe is run from the power unit to strategically placed vacuum inlets around your house (in the walls and floors and attic areas). These inlets are linked with a low voltage cable. You simply plug in the lightweight hose into an inlet and using the switch on the hose, switch on the power unit and vacuum your house.

• Does a central vacuum system improve air quality in my home

  Yes, unlike a conventional vacuum cleaner, a Aertec central vacuum removes all the dirt back to the canister in the power unit and at the same time exhausts any dirty air outside your house. This action removes any stale air and dust mites etc removed from your carpets/ floors, thus improving air quality in your home.

• Does the central vacuum unit need to be vented outside

  We recommend that you vent all systems outside as this will improve the quality of the air in your house and reduce the amount of dust build-up on furniture/pictures etc around your home.

• If I have lots of tiles / wooden floors do I need a central vacuum system

  With tiles and timber floors all dirt on your floors will be more visible than with carpets and you will need to clean more often. Brushing will only create more dust whereas using a central vacuum system will remove all dirt and is very easily quick and easy to use. We also supply a range of hard floor brushes specially designed for tile and timber floors.

• Can I fit an Aertec vacuum system into an existing home

  Yes, in most cases we can install a Aertec central vacuum system in your home in approx. one day, depending on the size of your home and the number of inlets required. A home survey will determine how the system can be fitted to your home.

• How many inlets do I need in my house

  the number of inlets in your house depends on both the size of your house and the lay-out of rooms and doorways etc. You do not need to put an inlet in each room as the 30 ft. hose is long enough to cover large areas. Generally we would put 6 to 8 inlets in a normal house up to 3000 sq. feet. Smaller houses would require fewer inlets. 3 or 4 bed semi-detached houses generally require 3 or 4 inlets.

• What is a VacPan

  A vacpan is another form of inlet. The VacPan is fitted in your kitchen onto the kick board of the kitchen unit and is piped back to the vacuum unit. As your kitchen will probably see the most traffic in your house it will often need a quick clean. You simply sweep any dirt on your kitchen floor to the VacPan, flick open the door on the VacPan and sweep in the dirt which is then transported back to the vacuum unit. a quick flick of the VacPan door and the vacuum unit switches off

• What is a drawer vac

  A drawer vac is a vacuum attachment in that can be located in the drawer kitchen unit. To operate you simply pull open drawer and wipe the debris into the drawer vac

• Will the suction be the same throughout the house

  Yes, assuming the system is installed properly then the suction will be the same at all inlets, even the furthest away inlet. It is important to install the correct size Aertec central vacuum unit to suit the size of your house. Properly installed, you will experience the same powerful cleaning performance at each inlet.

• Do I have to empty the bin often

  No, with the Aertec range you will only need to empty the dirt canister about three times a year.

• Can I install a central vacuum system myself

  Yes, it is possible to install a Aertec central vacuum system yourself. Our Aertec systems can be bought as a D I Y kit. If you choose to install it yourself we provide you with a step by step installation manual and if required we can offer you a call out service to commission your installed system.

• Why is the system so effective at dealing with condensation

  The air from each of the wet rooms (where most of the moisture is produced) i.e. kitchen, bathroom, en-suite bathrooms etc., is continually extracted and replaced simultaneously by a constant source of fresh, drier, warm air. This continuous cycle is designed to reduce the relative humidity and the risks of condensation and of mould growth occurring

• How is pollution in the home controlled

  Harmful gases and dangerous pollutants are removed along with the stale air which is extracted, whilst the introduction of fresh air dilutes any internal contaminants. An individual air change schedule will be prepared in line with the requirements of each job

• How does it help asthma sufferers

  Research carried out by a number of worldwide leading authorities have established a clear link between the house dust mite allergen and the development of asthma - 80% of sufferers are allergic to it. Heat recovery ventilation reduces the relative humidity to a level at which the house dust mite cannot survive, thereby removing a major trigger of asthma attacks. • Can we filter out pollen

  A pollen filter can be fitted easily which stops 85% of pollen and other similarly sized particles. It is recommended that this is inspected every 3 months, in most cases the inexpensive filter medium can be changed where necessary. This is achieved simply and quickly and does not involve any specialist tools.

• How much does it cost to run.

  By using long-life, low energy DC motors, on average a typical system (for a 4-5 bedroom property) uses about 70 watts of electricity, similar to a normal light bulb. Of course, in most cases, this is more than offset against the savings achieved by recovering the heat from the stale air extracted.

• How does Heat Recovery work

  Fresh air is continuously drawn into the home via a low energy ventilation unit, located in the roof/space/utility area of your home. The ventilation unit filters the incoming air to remove dust and debris such as insects. Once passed through the heat exchanger within the power unit, the warm, fresh filtered air is distributed around the home through a series of ducts which are run to each living room and bedroom room. The air from wet rooms i.e bathrooms, kitchens, wc’s, utility areas etc is continuously extracted and filtered back through the ventilation unit. The heat from the extracted air is transferred to the fresh incoming air.

• Can a ventilation system be retro fitted into a existing home

  Yes, However this would be subject to some requirements. Is the house air tight, heat recovery units work best in air tight houses with an air permeability of greater than 5 meters cubed per hour per meter squared. Put simply if you have a draughty house you are wasting your money installing heat recovery. But if you have a draughty house you are wasting even more money in lost heat and increasing heating bills. Other factors to take into account are open flue solid fuel heaters are not compatible with heat recovery systems.

• What is the warranty on my heat recovery

  Our entry level model comes with a 2 year warranty, but our AT400 and 600 models come with a 5 year warranty, with an option to purchase extended warranty at the end of that period

• Can I install myself

  yes but we do insist on commissioning the system to validate the warranty and ensure the unit is installed correctly (we will provide you with a detailed plan)

• How often do I need to change the filters

  Depending on your house location, the filters usually need to be changed every year. The filter alarm on the user-friendly remote control will alert you when this needs to be done

• How much heat is recovered house

  The Aertec system is designed to recover up to 92% of the heat normally lost through open windows, trickle vents and other break-out points i.e extractor fans in a building structure.
